Frosty the Snowman

Friday 4th February 2011
Looking at this week's new challenges there seems to be a bit of a theme going along.......song titles
so i thought I would join in.

The Bah! Humbug! challenge "Buttons and Bows" brings back memories of playing in my grandparents "front room" with an old wind up gramophone player.  You wound the handle & the record would play........gradually getting slower and slower until you wound it up again.  The record that I remember was Buttons & Bows - I couldn't tell you who sung it, or the words - come to think of it I probably never heard the tune at the right speed either.

I have an idea for this week's card.................if it doesn't work out I may have to edit the title of this post.

Sunday 6th February

Well I have finished the card - had to make some changes to my original ideas, couldn't find any suitable buttons (I don't have many buttons as it's not something I often use on cards) So I have used button shaped brads.
The background is stormy sky distress ink, I inked over some peel off star shapes, then removed the peel offs.  The tag is made the same way - chipped sapphire distressed ink over the peel offs.  The snowman is from Cute Companions  Winter Tales "Christmas Delight" stamp set, embossed, coloured with marvy markers & sprayed with Crafter's Companion Iridescent Spray & Sparkle.

I'm not very happy with the photo, the glitter card looks the wrong colour (it is white not yellowy) - I will have to practice the photography a little more.  The card does look better in real life - honest :)  I've found that scanning cards has been better than photographing, but this one needed to be stood to show it properly.  Hopefully when the days are longer and we have all that bright sunshine I may be able to get better photos.

This is for the following challenges .............
Bah! Humbug!   Buttons & Bows
Jingle Belles  Baby, Its Cold Outside!  (hat mittens & scarf)
Winter Wonderland  Reach for the Stars!
Christmas Cards All Year 'Round  February Challenge (have something red or pink & dimension)
Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge   February Challenge (peel offs used to make the stars on the background & the bow on the tag)

You're snowman looks like he's ready to brave the great white north (also known as Iowa ... even the snowmen would need mittens here this week) ... fantastic holiday design ... thanks for joining our jingle belles fun.

Super card which I fully appreciate will look stunning in real life - I can sympathise with the problem of bad light affecting the white glitter card colour as have had the same issue myself. Thank you for sharing with us at Bah! Humbug!
